The Seton Catholic Cardinal basketball team hosted the Northeastern Knights at Earlham College on Wednesday, Nov. 27, in the season opener for both schools.

Senior Grant Semler scored back-to-back to send the Cardinals to an early 5-0 lead, but the Knights battled back to tie the game at 9-9 on a Landon Scarrette field goal. Cooper Cline sent the Knights in front on a rebound basket before Jason Moynihan hit a 3-point shot to restore the Cardinals’ lead at 12-11. It was the last lead the Cards enjoyed. The Knights led 17-14 at the end of the first quarter and expanded their advantage to 35-25 by halftime.

The Knights used their superior depth and size to break the game open in the second half. The Knights used 13 players in a revolving door substitution pattern to wear the Cardinals down, outscoring them in both the third and fourth quarters en route to a 74-50 win.
