An originally unscheduled game that was the first meeting between the two schools ended in an entertaining shoot out with a Northeastern victory.
Facing a fourth and 13 with only 25 seconds remaining in the game, Knight quarterback Jarrett Leitner connected with Trent Deloney on a long touchdown pass to lift the Knights to an exciting 54-49 win.
The Northeastern football team was unable to schedule a football game for Friday, Oct. 9; the Arcanum (Ohio) football team had a game scheduled, but its original opponent did not have enough healthy players to play and canceled at the last minute.
The logical thing to do was schedule a game between the two teams separated by the Indiana/Ohio state line but less than 30 minutes from each other. The Knights agreed to board their bus and travel to Arcanum, solving a problem for both schools.
Arcanum piled up 557 yards of offense. Weston Schmidt competed 18 of 28 pass attempts for 230 yards and a TD. Talon Stone caught the TD pass for 34 yards. MJ Macy carried the ball 41 times, gaining 270 yards and scoring six touchdowns.
No statistics were available for Northeastern.
Northeastern (4-4) 54
Arcanum (6-2) 49
