On Feb. 20, the Northeastern Knight basketball team traveled to play the Winchester Golden Falcons, which prevailed 49-47 in a hard-fought game. The Knights flipped the script in the March 3 opening-round sectional match, handing the Falcons a 64-46 loss to advance to a semi-final matchup with state-ranked Shenandoah.
The Knights led at the end of each quarter. Northeastern used defensive pressure and balanced scoring to dominate the game. The game was close early. The score was tied at five before the Knights pushed out to a 17-11 advantage they would never surrender.
The Knights outscored the Falcons 34-22 in the second half, building leads of as many as 23 points before coasting to a 64-46 win.

Eight Knights scored in the game and three reached double figures. Kaleb Moore led with 16 points, Brody Ross scored 15 points and Lucas Durbin added 12 points. Cameron Baldwin scored 15 points to lead the Falcons.
Head coach Brent Ross said he was pleased with his team’s play, especially defensively.
“To beat Winchester you have to stop (Carter) Campbell and (Caleb) Hummel and we did,” he said. “We played well, so we get to play again Friday. With the four remaining teams, the atmosphere here on Friday will be really fun. I am glad that my young kids get to experience that. We will be ready.”
