Jon York has been named the new chief executive officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County. After an extensive search, its Board of Directors unanimously selected York, whose tenure was to begin on Feb. 2.
A Richmond native, the BGCWC alumnus has 20 years of experience with the Boys & Girls Club, recently serving as CEO of BGC of Rush County. The organization experienced increased annual revenue, expanded staffing, and significantly grew youth and teen participation under his leadership.
“Growing up as a Club kid gave me opportunities that helped shape who I am today,” York said in a news release. “The Club’s programs and the people who believed in me changed my life. I’m excited to come back home to Wayne County, to an organization that has been leading the way in youth development for nearly 70 years, and to continue strengthening the community through our youth.”
York has a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Indiana University East and is a two-time Indiana Area Council CEO of the Year. He currently serves on several state and national BGC leadership committees.
Residents can meet York at an open house on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 5:30-7 p.m. at the Jeffers Unit, 1717 S. L St, in Richmond. Light refreshments will be served.
