The Indiana Department of Transportation will alter the traffic lights at both U.S. 40 intersections with 12th Street in Richmond.

INDOT will put flashing signals at the 12th Street intersections with East Main Street and North A Street. U.S. 40 traffic will have flashing yellow lights, and 12th Street traffic will have flashing red signals. That means 12th Street traffic must stop before entering the intersection, while the traffic on East Main or North A will not stop.

The changes enable INDOT to monitor the traffic flow during a trial period to determine if the traffic lights should be permanently removed to increase traffic flow efficiency on U.S. 40.

Greens Fork work

Beginning Oct. 1, INDOT contractor Milestone Contractors planned curb and pavement work on Indiana 38 in Greens Fork.

The project will replace curb ramps, patch pavement, resurface pavement and work on drainage structures. Ind. 38 will remain open to traffic; however, there will be temporary signals and flagging operations.

The project is expected to be completed early in December if weather permits.
