Hagerstown boys
Hagerstown 3, Union City 2
The Hagerstown Tigers defeated Union City 3-2 on Tuesday, Sept. 22, in a match played on the Hagerstown courts.
The win clinched the regular season Tri-Eastern Conference title with a perfect 6-0 record. With the win the Tigers improved their overall record to 10-7.
The duo of Dawson Brown and Collin Werking won at No. 1 doubles to improve their record on the season to 10-1, the best record for a Tiger doubles team in 30 years.

New Palestine, ranked 23rd in the state poll, won its 11th consecutive match on Monday, Sept. 21, by defeating visiting Richmond 4-1.
Xander Harrick delivered Richmond’s victory at No. 1 singles in a battle that lasted more than two hours. After falling behind 3-5 in the opening set, Harrick battled back to take the set 7-5 before closing out an impressive 7-5, 6-2 victory.

Harrick continued his strong season at No. 1 singles, earning Richmond’s point with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 victory. The Vikings won at every other position to win the match.

Lapel won the inaugural Eastern Crossroads Conference tennis championships on Saturday, Sept. 19, played on the New Castle courts. Centerville finished in a tie for fourth place with Shenandoah.
Final team standings: Lapel 48, Eastern Hancock 42, New Castle 26, Centerville 22, Shenandoah 22, Northeastern 0.
TEC Championship
For the first time since 2015, the Hagerstown tennis team advanced players in all three singles matches and both doubles matches during the preliminary rounds of the Tri-Eastern Conference championships played on the Winchester courts on Saturday, Sept. 26.
The championship matches will be played on Monday, Sept. 28. The results will be reported in the Oct. 7 issue of the Western Wayne News.
