Hagerstown traveled to Mount Summit on Tuesday, Nov. 18, for a nonconference game with the Blue River Lady Vikings. The Lady Vikings and the Lady Tigers both entered the contest on long losing streaks. Blue River was on an eight-game losing streak and Hagerstown was on a 10-game losing streak. The Lady Tigers won the contest 56-15 to halt their skid.
Hagerstown, with two key players on the bench in street clothes because of injury, never trailed in the game. The Tiger defense held the Vikings to a single field goal in the first quarter while scoring 19 points.
The swarming Tiger defense held the Vikings to five points in the first half. Kenly Ferriell hit a three-point basket with 1:05 remaining in the third quarter to make the score 47-11 and trigger a running clock for the balance of the game.

Ferriell and Sophia Tinkle put on a shooting clinic. The freshman duo combined to hit 11 three-pointers and score 39 points. Tinkle led the Tigers with 22 points, including six three-pointers. Ferriell scored 17 points, including five three-pointers.
Hagerstown head coach Brad Catey said he was not surprised by the outcome. ”Obviously we shot well, but we have been focusing in practice on the things that help you win,” Catey said. ”Working hard on defense, diving after loose balls, setting screens and rebounding — those are things you can always do. When you are hitting shots it is easier. We are working to change our mindset from hoping to win to expecting to win.”
