A week after weather-related damage closed its building, Girls Inc. of Wayne County found a temporary location in the Richmond Senior Recreation Center.

According to a press release, after-school programming resumed March 19 as the organization coordinated logistics with Richmond Community Schools’ Bus & Transportation Department. Parents and guardians were informed on transit and pickup procedures for the new location. Its in-school outreach programming continued uninterrupted.

Girls Inc. stopped services at 1407 S. Eighth St., Richmond, following wind damage to its gymnasium’s roof and several AC units on the morning of March 11.

“This community is amazing and has rallied around our girls and our organization. While our building may be temporarily impacted, our mission is not. We have been incredibly grateful for the support, patience and encouragement shown to our organization and the girls we serve,” said Girls Inc. CEO Tai Muldoon.

The organization continues to post updates at facebook.com/girlsincwayne.
