A Williamsburg man who builds furniture is now able to build an office shed where customers can order and pick up his custom pieces.

Last October, Ivan Glick received a variance of use from the Wayne County Board of Zoning Appeals to operate his furniture business at 6567 Flatley Road southeast of Williamsburg. He returned to the BZA’s Feb. 12 meeting with the request to add a 12-foot-by-34-foot shed. After ensuring the building would not be used as a showroom for shoppers, the BZA unanimously approved amending the variance.

Glick will build the furniture in a separate shop where customers will not be permitted. His original plan was to take orders and store completed furniture waiting for pickup in an existing garage; however, Glick said the garage likely would not pass code.

A second petition to amend a previous variance was tabled until March because the petitioner was unable to attend the Feb. 12 meeting.
