Six restaurants or stores required follow-up visits in early December, but nearly all violations had been corrected when Wayne County Health Department inspectors returned a few days later.
Shortly before the holidays, Wayne County Health Department found seven new concerns during recent routine inspections at food establishments. One inspection took place after a visitor reported a complaint to the health department about products in the store.
The classification of being in or out of compliance replaces the health department’s previous terminology of critical and noncritical violations. Compliance is based on the number of risk factor or intervention violations and whether there are repeated issues.
WCHD conducted these assessments between Dec. 4-20.

Inspections
Wayne County Health Department inspects local stores, restaurants, schools and other food providers at least twice per year. If any aren’t compliant, inspectors follow up to ensure the establishment has made the necessary corrections. They also make visits if members of the public submit complaints.
Establishments are required to post the most recent routine inspection adjacent to the front public entrance for potential customers to view.
