Bio highlights: For more than 30 years, I have owned and operated several businesses in Wayne County. This work has given me extensive experience in property values, economic trends, and responsible financial decision-making. As a longtime business owner, I understand the challenges local businesses face and the importance of maintaining a strong local economy.
I have also volunteered hundreds of hours serving our community as a reserve deputy with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. My background has provided practical experience in leadership, budgeting, and problem solving. I am a proud United States Air Force veteran.
Reasons you ran: First, I care deeply about Wayne County and want to help ensure our community continues to grow and succeed. Having lived and worked here for decades, I believe in giving back and helping move our county forward.
Second, my experience as a business owner has given me a strong understanding of budgeting, economic growth, and responsible management. I want to bring that practical experience to county government to help make thoughtful decisions that benefit taxpayers and support long-term growth.
Top priorities: My first priority is responsible financial management. Taxpayer dollars should be used wisely, and county government must operate efficiently while continuing to provide the services residents rely on.
Second, I will continue supporting economic development and business growth. Strong local businesses and new investment are essential to creating jobs and keeping Wayne County competitive.
Third, maintaining and improving county infrastructure will remain a priority. Well-maintained roads, bridges, and public facilities are critical to supporting both residents and businesses.
Since being elected, I have consistently opposed additional taxes on Wayne County residents. I also voted twice to end the county’s needle exchange program, with the second vote resulting in the program’s termination. In addition, I supported and worked diligently to secure a contract with HELP the Animals to address the issue of homeless and stray dogs in Wayne County.
Specific skills: First, I bring decades of business experience. Owning and operating businesses for more than 30 years has required financial discipline, long-term planning, and the ability to make responsible decisions.
Second, I bring valuable experience as the current Wayne County Commissioner. Over the past three years, I have helped guide important projects and decisions that are shaping the future of Wayne County. That experience and momentum are important, and I will continue working to see these efforts through while making responsible decisions that benefit our residents and taxpayers.
Should continue: Wayne County has built strong partnerships between county government, local municipalities, and community organizations. This cooperation has helped move important projects forward and strengthen our local economy. Continuing this collaborative approach will be important as we work together to support future growth and opportunities for our community. Further, Wayne County is fiscally responsible and good stewards of tax payers’ moneys.
Needs to change: Government should always strive to improve transparency, communication, and efficiency. Residents deserve to understand how decisions are made and how their tax dollars are spent. I will continue working to ensure county government operates efficiently while remaining open, accessible, and responsive to the concerns and ideas of Wayne County residents.
Accept election results: Yes. I respect the democratic process and the will of the voters. Regardless of the outcome, I will remain committed to serving and supporting the Wayne County community.
Funding strategies: Strong financial management will be essential as government funding becomes more limited. I believe in careful budgeting, prioritizing essential services, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.
Economic growth must also remain a priority. Supporting local businesses and attracting new investment helps strengthen the tax base and reduces pressure on taxpayers.
In addition, we should continue pursuing partnerships with state and federal programs and exploring collaborative opportunities with the private sector when appropriate. These strategies can help bring additional resources into Wayne County while maintaining responsible financial oversight.
Engaging the public: I believe elected officials should stay connected with the community. In addition to public meetings, I will continue engaging with residents through community events, local organizations, and direct conversations with citizens across Wayne County. Listening to the concerns and ideas of residents helps ensure that county decisions reflect the needs and priorities of our community. I always return calls and encourage citizens to call me with concerns and questions.
Other comments: Serving as your Wayne County Commissioner has been a privilege. I remain committed to working hard, listening to residents, and making responsible decisions that move Wayne County forward. I would greatly appreciate your support and your vote to allow me to continue serving our community.
