The Richmond baseball team, after winning a sectional title for the first time in 15 years, had the unenviable task of traveling to Center Grove High School on Saturday, June 6, to face the top-ranked Trojans for the regional. The Trojans scored in every inning, gradually pulling away to a 12-0 win, in a game that was halted after six innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.

The Trojans entered the game on a 22-game winning streak.

Trojan pitcher Gannon Grant pitched a six-inning near perfect game. Grant did not allow a hit, did not issue a walk and struck out 13.

Four different players collected two hits each for the Trojans.

It was the last time in a Richmond High School baseball uniform for seniors Logan Belanga, Dominick McKinley-Bigalk, Darin Candlish, Corey Day, Ja’Riyah Delucio, Weston Jones, Zander Juday, Malachi Moore and Darwyn Roman.
