Richmond residents can apply for a free window air conditioner through May 24.

More than 40 units will be given to eligible individuals for combating the challenges of extreme heat. Seniors, individuals with disabilities, households with young children (with medical need) and those in heat vulnerable areas will be prioritized.

The distribution is a partnership of Wayne Township Trustee and the City of Richmond’s Beat the Heat Program.

Find the application at waynetownshiptrustee.com/beat-the-heat or visit the Wayne Township Trustee office at 401 E. Main St., Richmond.

For more information, contact Susan Isaacs, Wayne Township trustee, at 765-973-9392 or susan@waynetownshiptrustee.com.

Beat the Heat is a community initiative launched by Indiana University’s Environmental Resilience Institute. Financial support comes from Indiana Office of Environmental Resilience Institute and Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
