Ten wrestlers representing Wayne County high schools traveled to New Castle High School on Saturday, Feb. 15, hoping to earn the right to advance to the State Finals that will be held on Friday, Feb. 21, and conclude on Saturday, Feb. 22, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The top four in each weight class at the semi-state advance to the State Finals. To reach the final four, each wrestler must win their first two matches.
Heather Crull (Northeastern) defeated Grant Horning (Lapel) by pin in her opening-round match before defeating Colin Clark (Perry Meridian) by decision in her second match. Crull lost her semi-final match to Tate St. Laurent (Cathedral) by decision but still advanced to the State Finals by wrestling back to defeat Calen Morrow (Lutheran) by decision to finish third. Crull will enter the State Finals competition with a record of 44-1.

The other nine Wayne County wrestlers lost their first-round match to see their season end.
132 pounds: Conner Frazier (Centerville) lost to Collen Crowley (Cathedral) to end his season with a record of 29-11.
138 pounds: Gage Sherwood (Lincoln) lost to Cade Zuber (Greenfield-Central) to end his season with a record of 36-4.
144 pounds: Gus Golliher (Hagerstown) lost to Bryce Doss (New Palestine) to end his season with a record of 32-18.
150 pounds: Zach Golliher (Hagerstown) lost to Mason Presits (Noblesville) to end his season with a record of 38-10.
157 pounds: Grant Soper (Centerville) lost to James Grimme (Cathedral) to end his season with a record of 30-7.
165 pounds: Thane Berger (Northeastern) lost to Michael Major (Carmel) to end his season with a record of 27-14.

175 pounds: Roy Thornbury (Hagerstown) lost to MJ Morton (Roncalli) to end his season with a record of 38-9.
190 pounds: Caleb Cohee (Northeastern) lost to Brody Aeschilman (Zionsville) to end his season with a record of 31-10.
215 pounds: Zane Schneider (Northeastern) lost to Evan Lawhead (Hamilton Southeastern) to end his season with a record of 28-6.
