A Wayne County landowner will now own a little more property along Arba Pike.
Ivan Esch requested the county vacate an undeveloped roadway that splits his properties in the 11000 block of Arba Pike. The county’s commissioners approved the ordinance vacating the road during their Sept. 16 meeting.
The five-lot Shurman T. Richardson subdivision was platted in 1963 with the road off Arba Pike included, but the road was never used or accepted into the county’s road system. Esch now owns the properties to the north, south and west of the roadway.
During an Aug. 20 Wayne County Advisory Plan Commission meeting, Esch said he cleaned up an old shed on the platted roadway and maintains the land. The plan commission recommended commissioners approve the vacation.
Commissioner Jeff Plasterer said the vacation causes no detriment to any other property owner. He and Commissioner Aaron Roberts passed the ordinance 2-0. No one spoke during the public hearing.
Valerie Shaffer, president of the Economic Development Corp. of Wayne County, updated commissioners about the EDC following its Sept. 14 board meeting and requested several actions. See the EDC story on Page 1 for details.
In another action, commissioners recommended that Wayne County Council approve a $4,113 transfer in the fairgrounds overtime line item for extra overtime incurred covering for a fairgrounds employee on leave. Council that night approved the transfer during the combined council/commissioners workshop.
