A Fishers company will design and engineer the Loop multi-modal path extension along West Main Street.
During its June 4 meeting, Richmond’s Board of Public Works and Safety approved a $380,000 contract with DCCM in Fishers. DCCM has 40 offices in seven states.
The extension from South West First Street is part of the Revitalize Richmond funding and will connect Earlham College to the Loop leading downtown and to the Depot District. It will also extend to South West 13th Street, providing access to Clear Creek Park, Cordell Pool and McBride Stadium.
A segment along South West Eighth Street will connect West Main Street to U.S. 40 at an Earlham crossing.
Three proposals were received, and after interviews with all three, DCCM was selected to receive the contract.
The contract takes the project through bidding, which is expected to occur during the winter with construction beginning in Spring 2027, according to Bryan Ervin, the city’s special projects manager.
The board also approved a $261,771 contract with Brown Equipment Supply of Evansville to supply the city’s street department with a Global Model M3 street sweeper. The city traded in two street sweepers, receiving $25,000 each.
Richmond Fire Department requested and the board approved rescinding its contract with Cintas Corporation and replacing it with a new contract including minor changes. The board approved the actions.
An addendum to the city’s contract with Midwest Signal & Railroad Services was also approved. The city has an option to extend the contract for maintenance and repairs to city-owned railroad crossings through 2027, and Midwest can increase its $800-per-month price by up to $50 per month for 2027.
