There will be a new face on the sidelines coaching the 2025-26 Seton Catholic boys basketball team for the first time in 15 years. Josh Jurgens will no longer be the coach after 14 years at the helm. During his tenure, coaching one of the state’s smallest enrollment schools, his program was a model of consistency.

Compiling a record of 194-152, Jurgens won seven sectionals in his 14 years, and his 2017-18 team advanced to the elite eight in state tournament play, even though they finished the season with a losing record. His 2015-16 team had a school-best record of 23-4 after losing in the regional by five points to the eventual state champion.

Jurgens coached an Indiana All-Star who is currently playing in the NBA, and a few other players who went on to play at the college level, but it was his ability to blend role players into positions that made the team successful that may have been his best attribute.

His last team exemplifies that. The 2024-25 Cardinals graduated many players the year before and started the season 0-5. By the end of the season, the team had won the Edinburgh Academy holiday tournament and were on a 10-game winning streak before losing the sectional championship game to a team that eventually advanced to the semi-state.

Josh Siedling has been hired to replace Jurgens.
