A Centerville man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing a woman and leading officers on a foot pursuit.
Shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, Wayne County Sheriff’s Department officers responded to a stabbing that occurred on Airport Road, according to Lt. Randy Retter of the sheriff’s department.
Jasmine Oakley-Fields, 22, of Richmond was transported to Reid Health, where she was treated for minor injuries and later released.
The suspect, Chance J. Duarte, 23, of Centerville, was taken into custody following a short foot pursuit, Retter said.
Duarte was arrested on preliminary charges of aggravated battery, a Level 3 felony, as well as false informing and resisting law enforcement, which are both misdemeanors.
Retter said Tuesday’s incident appears to be isolated and there is no known threat to the community. The sheriff’s department is continuing to investigate the incident.
In the news release, Retter expressed thanks to officers of the Richmond and Centerville police departments as well as members of Richmond Fire Department and Reid Health for their efforts and assistance with the case.
