The Centerville Lions Club named its 2024 Outstanding Citizens of Centerville during its April 15 awards banquet.
Valerie Hood and Janel Sparks both received the award for their contributions to the community. Hood is a speech-language pathologist at Centerville-Abington Community Schools. Sparks is a community advocate who also opened Lavender and Sage, a gardening and home decor business two years ago.
The club gave its Chief award to Dennis Spears, longtime Centerville fire chief. Several of Spears’ fellow firefighters attended to join in the recognition.
They also named Dennis Stephen, club treasurer, the recipient of its Melvin Jones award, named after the founder of Lions Clubs International.
