Teams from around the state participated in the Jeremy Wright Small School Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Southwestern (Shelby) High School on Saturday, Aug. 22. The race was run on the Blue River Memorial Park course in Shelbyville. 

Austin High School was the team champion in the boys race, earning 78 points in a field of 26 teams. Hagerstown placed ninth with 265 points and Centerville placed 11th with 307 points. Lincoln did not have enough runners to compete as a team.

Hunter Lehe from Faith Christian was the individual champion in a time of 16:37.1.

Hagerstown placements: Benjamin Smith 31st, Hazard Houghton 46th, Jack Rector 52nd, Zack Logston 57th, Robert Sullivan 101st, Cole Mitchell 148th, Joseph Dusek 155th, Colton Callahan 182nd, Joel Cornett 190th. 

Centerville placements: Clay Johnson 44th, Jonah Cornett 45th, James Skaggs 84th, Rowan Evrard 98th, Conner Scheer 114th, Sam Scheer 118th, Jack Montgomery 172nd, Zeke Chasteen 180th.  

Lincoln placements: Karson Ulerick 165th.  

Southwestern (Hanover) was the team champion in the girls race, winning with a score of 59 in a field of 15 teams. Centerville placed fifth with 176 points and Hagerstown placed 12th with 258 points. Lincoln did not have enough runners to compete as a team. 

Harper Green from Southwestern (Hanover) was the individual champion in a time of 20.02.2.

Centerville placements: Anna Nevels 15th, Bella Green 35th, Bowi Frame 58th, Maci Smarrelli 66th, Addie Talbot 71st, Aubrey Maghielse 84th, Olivia Hawkins 100th, Lily Kaehr 109th, Evelyn Taylor 137th.

Hagerstown placements: Sophia Garvin 40th, Abigail Smith 50th, Maycee Favorite 51st, Connie Robertson 97th, Sarah Sorrell 88th, Sadie Nicholas 90th.

Lincoln placements: Kinley Puckett sixth.
