Centerville-Abington Community Schools principals introduced new teachers to the school board on July 27.
Kelly VanWinkle of Centerville-Abington Elementary introduced Jennifer Hale, Tristan Migoski Darcy Talbot, Aarika Smith and Alyssa Kish. Centerville Senior High School’s Tim Hollendonner introduced Meagan Santner (mathematics), Tess Newton (Spanish), Jonathan Lucy (music/band director), and Ryan Cole (physical education/head coach).
Superintendent Mike McCoy said the incoming kindergarten class is smaller than previous years (99 instead of about 140 last year). Forty students attended the first day of the new Kinder Kamp orientation program.
>> District Treasurer Tyna Stover led a first reading of the 2023 budgets. The annual financial report is published in this edition of Western Wayne News. McCoy received permission to apply for all federal and state grants that would be beneficial to the district.
>> McCoy said he wants to brainstorm with the school board about how to manage the class composite pictures displayed at the high school. McCoy’s idea is to keep the most recent 10 years around the main circle, and make high-quality digital pictures of the previous ones to scroll on television screens. The old pictures would be kept in storage and lent to classes during reunions or the alumni dinner.
