Cambridge City is implementing a curfew for the next week during storm recovery.
The temporary emergency curfew begins at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13. It will be in place from 8 p.m. through 7 a.m. daily until Aug. 20.
During the curfew, people should not unnecessarily travel upon, remain upon, or congregate upon public streets, sidewalks, alleys, parks, public property or other public places.
Those exempt include those traveling directly to or from work, medical personnel or those traveling to receive necessary medical care, first responders, government representatives engaged in official duties, news media, those experiencing an emergency or helping others during an emergency, and people whose travel or presence is reasonably necessary and doesn’t interfere with emergency operations or present an unreasonable threat to public safety.
Cambridge City Police Department and other agencies with lawful jurisdiction can enforce the curfew.
The curfew was issued by Jim McLane, town council president, in cooperation with Police Chief Richard Roberts.
Travel advisory
As of 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, the Level III Flood Emergency Travel Warning for Wayne County, Richmond and Centerville was downgraded to a Level II Travel Watch and will be in place until 1 a.m. Friday.
A Level II Travel Watch means only essential travel is permitted on county roads. This declaration does not apply to state or federal highways.
Essential travel includes:
- Travel to and from work or school
- Travel to obtain necessary medical care
- Travel to obtain prescription medications
- Travel to obtain essential food or fuel
- Travel to obtain safe shelter
- Travel by emergency vehicles and emergency personnel

Cancellations
- Thursday, Aug. 13: Richmond Parks meeting canceled/rescheduled for Aug. 20 at 4 p.m.
- Thursday: Reid Health Paramedic Program graduation canceled; rescheduled for later date
- Thursday: Richmond Civic Theatre’s “1776” performance was canceled; ticket holders can exchange seats for any “1776” performance this weekend. Contact box office for availability.
Miscellaneous
- Richmond’s Rose View Transit and Paratransit are active, but passengers must expect delays.
- On Friday, Boys & Girls Club Jeffers Unit, 1717 S. L St., Richmond, is open 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., free of charge for members. Free memberships are also available to new members in grades K-12. All other units are closed.
- On Friday, YMCA Richmond campus opens at 5:30 a.m. and will operate at normal hours
