Two nationally known political voices will speak at Earlham College in Richmond later this year and early next.
Former U.S. Secretary of Transportation and presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg will speak on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, as a part of Earlham’s Presidential Lecture series. Buttigieg, a Rhodes Scholar and veteran, was mayor of South Bend, Indiana, from 2012 to 2020. He ran for president during the 2020 Democratic Party primaries and was confirmed as the youngest person ever to serve as the Secretary of Transportation in 2021.
Author, commentator and conservative political pundit David Brooks will speak on Thursday, Nov. 20 at Goddard Auditorium in Carpenter Hall. A longtime columnist for The New York Times and a regular contributor to “PBS NewsHour,” he has also written for The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek and The Atlantic Monthly. Brooks will speak as a part of Earlham’s Artist and Lecture Series.
