The Centerville Bulldogs, grossly undervalued at 18th in the 2A state rankings, hosted Seton Catholic on Saturday, Nov. 29, in their home opener. The shorthanded Bulldogs, missing three regular-rotation players, displayed their talent pool’s depth by defeating the Cardinals 99-39.
The Cardinals do not have the firepower to run with the Bulldogs and would have preferred to play the game at a slower pace, but they had little choice after falling behind 32-7 at end of the first quarter. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 54-23 at halftime and quickly pushed their lead over 35 points early in the third quarter to trigger a running clock. The Bulldogs maintained a torrid scoring pace throughout the game, scoring 22 points or more in each quarter.
Shea Hollendonner poured in a game high of 29 points to lead the Bulldog offense, Landyn Keiser scored 15 points, Jace Hollendonner scored 14 points and Ethan Vecera scored 12 points. Jackson Feist led the Cardinals with 16 points.
