The Centerville girls tennis team is arguably one of the best-sustained sports programs in Wayne County history. With the past success of their program, it can be difficult to establish new “best ever” achievements. But, last week the Lady Bulldogs did just that — twice.

After completing regular season Tri-Eastern Conference matches with a record of 8-0, Centerville entered the TEC tournament, played on Saturday, May 17, and concluded on Monday, May 19, on the Lincoln High School courts, with the number one seed in every flight for the first time in program history. In the championship matches, Centerville won at every position for the first time in program history to hoist the trophy.

No. 1 singles: Makenna Hartman (Centerville) defeated Hicks (Tri High) and Hughes (Union County) in preliminary matches, then defeated Lacey (Northeastern) 6-0, 6-2 in the title match.

No. 2 singles: Kylar Marshall (Centerville) defeated Curry (Knightstown) and Vinson (Hagerstown) in preliminary matches, then defeated Arnold (Union City) 7-5, 6-3 in the title match.

No. 3 singles: Ellie Cox (Centerville) defeated Helderbrand (Knightstown) and Gillman (Union County) in preliminary matches, then defeated Brenneman (Tri High) 6-0, 6-0 in the title match.

No. 1 doubles: Myleigh Hartman and Madi Fralick (Centerville) defeated Doerstler and Banta (Hagerstown) and Garcia and Waddell (Lincoln) in preliminary matches, then defeated Sheets and Null (Northeastern) 6-4, 6-0 in the title match.

No. 2 doubles: Kami Johnson and Natalie Fralick (Centerville) defeated Kreiner and Emerick (Hagerstown) and Mainous and Shank (Northeastern) in preliminary matches, then defeated Anderson and Hargarten (Winchester) 7-6, 5-7, 6-1 in the title match.
