The Centerville boys basketball team hosted the Rushville Lions on Wednesday, Jan. 21, in a nonconference game. The game turned into a three-point shootout, with both teams making nine three-point baskets. The 2A fifth-ranked Bulldogs, who entered the game as heavy favorites, hung on to take a 65-59 win to improve to 13-1 on the season.
The game was close throughout the first half. Rushville led 22-21 after the first quarter, and the teams were deadlocked at 28-28 at halftime.
The Bulldogs outscored the Lions 16-5 in the third quarter before the Lions outscored the Bulldogs 26-21 in the fourth quarter, falling just short.
Jace Hollendonner led Centerville with 18 points and Landyn Keiser scored 11 points. Emmitt Knecht led the Lions and all game scorers with 21 points, and Zy Adams scored 11 points.
