The Centerville Bulldog tennis team entertained Hagerstown on Monday, Aug. 25, in a key Tri-Eastern Conference matchup. Bulldog head coach Randy Ecker and his assistant coach Susie Ecker have built a powerhouse program, reaching unprecedented levels of success.

The Bulldogs are the defending TEC champions as well as the defending sectional champions, but several team members graduated.

In his preseason observations, coach Ecker said that young, unproven players would have to step up to fill the void this season for his team. Ecker also identified Hagerstown as a young team that he expected to be a factor in the TEC race.

When the two teams met for what could be the first of three meetings this season on Monday, the Bulldogs prevailed 4-1. Freshman Alex Tinkle, at No. 1 singles, was the sole winner for Hagerstown.
