Construction equipment will close a block of East Main Street for multiple days over three weeks.
On Sept. 3, the Richmond Board of Public Works and Safety approved the closure of the 900 block of East Main Street from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on work days for tuck pointing of the bricks on 930 E. Main St. A large “lift boom” will be parked in the street during work hours from Sept. 15 through Oct. 2, according to Whisenhunt Construction.
Other street closures approved include:
- The first block of North West H Street from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 13 for the New Beginnings of Life Ministries’ Church Fair.
- The 1000 and 1100 blocks of North G Street from 2 to 11 p.m. Sept. 19 for the Lady Roadrunners Social Club’s block party.
JA Shroyer Group of Muncie was awarded the bid to demolish the former Mechanics Laundry facility at 1002 N. E St. Shroyer bid $42,500, the lowest of three bids received by $22,300. The city has planned a parking lot at the site.
The board also approved contracts for demolition work on four properties. B&B Construction received a $35,750 contract for work at 817 N. I St., 828 S. Sixth St. and 1019 N. J St., and Mikesell Excavating received a $21,600 contract for work at 741 S. Fifth St.
