Every Child Can Read is taking its red bookmobile to distribute free kids’ books across Wayne County this summer.
Books will be distributed from the van between 12:45-1:15 p.m. Friday, June 19, and 12:15-12:45 p.m. Friday, July 10, at Glen Miller Park’s playground, 2200 E. Main St.
ECCR will also offer books from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Elstro Plaza, 47 N. Sixth St., and from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday, July 31, at Cordell Municipal Pool, 9 SW 13th St., both in Richmond.
Times are approximate and weather dependent for the outdoor events.
ECCR is also distributing free books to day care and day camp programs across the county.
Sponsors include Merchants Bank of Indiana, Whitewater Valley REMC, United Way of Whitewater Valley, Tri Kappa, and various donors.
ECCR’s bookmobile giveaways are separate from Morrisson-Reeves Library’s new multicolored book truck that offers books, graphic novels and DVDs for checkout and return. Monthly stops for MRL’s book truck currently include Boston, Economy, Fountain City, Greens Fork and Williamsburg.
