Wayne County’s commissioners delayed action on a contract providing the county health department with a new electronic medical records system.
During their Sept. 2 meeting, commissioners opted to wait until their Sept. 9 meeting to act. That provides the county’s Board of Health the opportunity to first consider the contract with TrackMy Solutions during its noon Sept. 8 meeting. The health board approved the contract’s creation with a 5-0 vote during its July 14 meeting.
Dan Burk, director of the health department, presented the contract to commissioners. The MyVisit system would replace the Athena system currently in use. MyVisit additionally handles credentialing and billing for the health department. It costs 10% of the county’s revenue, while Athena charges 11.7%.
The 12-month contract would automatically roll over unless either side opts to end it. The county can withdraw from MyVisit at any time with 30 days notice.
Commissioner actions
- Commissioners extended until Sept. 11 the placement of two large garbage receptacles in Williamsburg for residents to place flood-damaged items and debris. The receptacles were originally scheduled to be removed Sept. 4, but Williamsburg residents requested more time to clean their homes.
- Commissioners acknowledged receipt of a letter from Auditor Mark Hoelscher authorizing county employee Amy Chenowith, who is running unopposed in November’s general election for auditor, to carry out payroll and other duties.
- Commissioners approved an amendment to the county’s health insurance plan that enables coverage of specialty drugs after cancer diagnoses. The drugs are an exception to the policy excluding specialty drugs.
