Richmond native Desmond Bane, a 2015 Seton Catholic High School graduate, is on the move. Bane was traded from the Memphis Grizzlies to the Orlando Magic on Sunday, June 15, in a multi-player swap. In exchange for Bane, the Magic sent roster players Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Cole Anthony to the Grizzlies as well as four unprotected first-round draft picks.
Memphis received the No. 16 pick in the 2025 NBA draft, the 2026 first-round pick, as well as Orlando’s 2028 and 2030 unprotected first-round selections.
Bane averaged 19.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists in 69 games this season. In his five seasons with Memphis, he has averaged 17.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
Bane is one of only three NBA players with over 800 made 3-pointers and over 40% 3-point shooting accuracy since entering the league in 2020.
Bane, who is 26 years old, is under contract through the 2028-29 season.
