Hagerstown’s middle and high school Tiger Jazz Band and Centerville’s jazz band and choir were recognized at Indiana State School Music Association’s Jazz Contest at Greenfield-Central High School earlier this month.

Hagerstown’s high school band was awarded silver and its middle school band won gold.

Kendra Sanders, HJSHS band director, said the Tigers are in the running to reach their goal of being Hagerstown’s first group to be awarded the ISSMA All Band Award for excellence across the spectrum of ISSMA events.

Centerville Senior High School’s Jazz Band and Jazz Choir both earned a gold rating at ISSMA’s Jazz Contest.
