Special Judge Matthew Cox has dismissed two intimidation charges filed in January 2025 against Wayne County Auditor Mark Hoelscher.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office moved to dismiss the misdemeanor counts after Hoelscher successfully completed pretrial diversion. Hoelscher entered pretrial diversion in May. It required him to not commit a criminal offense for 180 days, to pay $334 within 30 days, and to refrain from harassing, intimidating, threatening or having contact with the two people he’s alleged to have intimidated.

Hoelscher, who was elected auditor in 2022, was accused of placing handwritten notes that read, “Break into my house again or hurt any of my animals I will give you something to arrest me for,” in two neighbors’ mailboxes, according to an Indiana State Police narrative filed with the charging information.
