A food truck is now permitted to serve those attending auctions at a Wayne County facility.

The Wayne County Board of Zoning Appeals approved amendments to a variance of use and special exception for Midway Auction Barn LLC during its Dec. 11 meeting. The amendments permit a food truck on the east side of the auction building on auction days at 10927 N. U.S. 27 north of Fountain City.

The auction facility conducts consignment auctions and weekly livestock auctions. After receiving BZA approval to operate, Midway Auction returned in June asking for permission to have a canopy on the facility’s east side for a caterer to grill food served at the lunch counter.

The auction company has taken a step further by receiving permission to bring in an outside food truck for auction days. There were no public comments, and the amendments passed unanimously.

After those votes, the board reelected Randy Newman as its chair for 2026 and elected Philip Neal as vice chair.
