Local adults are invited to bring a child they care about to programs where they can discuss “not so easy” topics.

Girls Inc. of Wayne County is offering an Informed Together Series to cover social media, drugs, healthy relationships and puberty.  Membership is not required.

Dinner and the programs at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 30, Sept. 27, Oct. 18 and Nov. 6 are free for all participants. In addition, children and their adults who attend all four evenings will receive a gift card to dine out together.

Facilitators will help with guided conversations that are appropriate for all ages.

The first three sessions end at 7:30 p.m. and the third ends at 8:30 p.m.

Aug. 30 focuses on social media, learning how to keep kids safe online, diving into apps and gaining skills to have hard conversations about the topic.

Sept. 27 covers drugs, alcohol and smoking/vaping. Parents will learn what kids and teens know and current trends. Learn how to discuss peer pressure and saying no.

Oct. 18 discusses positive peer and romantic relationships, and what’s healthy and what’s not.

Informed & In Charge on Nov. 6 will be split by age. Sixth graders and younger will learn about puberty, and older students will discuss healthy sexuality. Adults can learn how to talk with children about sexual behavior, their changing bodies and other questions.

A registration form is available at girlsincwayne.org/events.
