Pastor Kurt Amadeus Thurston, age 60, went home to be with our Lord and Savior at Reid Health on August 8, 2022. He was born August 14, 1961, the son of Joyce Thurston and John Leo Thurston, in Santa Monica, California.
Kurt had lived in Richmond, Indiana, most of his life. He became an Associate Pastor at Living Word Christian Fellowship. Kurt had gotten his Doctoral Degree in Christian Theology; and he received his G.E.D. from Richmond Community Schools. Kurt loved to share the word of God. Kurt always had a great sense of humor. He was member of Gateway Church. Kurt enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, loved going to garage sales and auctions. He was always looking to find a bargain. He also enjoyed writing music, singing, playing his guitar and keyboard. Kurt had worked a lot of different places in his teen years; he detassled corn around Boston, Indiana, then he worked at the courthouse, later he worked for Johns-Manville and Iam’s in Ohio. He also done construction work besides his employment and had garage sales.
Kurt leaves behind his pride and joy which were his kids, Angel and Bistsy (his Shih tzu puppy dogs); his mother: Joyce Thurston; one brother: John (Teresa) Thurston, Richmond, IN; one sister: Felicia (James) Johnson, Richmond, IN; one nephew: Justin (Maria) Thurston; two nieces: Jessica (Steve) Pennington and Mary Beth Thurston, Los Angeles, CA; three great nephews: Chason Thurston Perkins, Tanner Thurston Perkins and Aeremih Pennington; three great nieces: Jaelyn Parker, Jelyssa Parker and Skylar Thurston Perkins; and one great niece or nephew on the way.
He is preceded in death by his father: John Leo Thurston; grandmother: Betty Thomas; and his grandfather: Gordon Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at Community Family Funeral Home on Monday, August 15, 2022, at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Chris Monahan officiating.
