It must be getting close to the final days of summer as local festivals are popping up and will run until the early autumn weekends. One of the first was the annual Williamsburg Farm Days that enjoyed a near-perfect couple of days Friday and Saturday.
The highlight of the event was the centennial celebration of the school, which is now Williamsburg Community Center.
“We had about 80 people sign our guest registry after their tour of the Centennial school building,” said Cliff Clark, who is instrumental in the revitalization of the facilities.“It was a great effort between the Friends Church, the Nazarene Church, Masonic Lodge, fire department and the Williamsburg Community Center.”
Williamsburg Masonic Lodge continued the tradition of their strawberry ice cream shortcake giveaway. The Lions Club served 265 breakfasts and Williamsburg Nazarene Church had over 100 cars in their show.
Most small town schools have met their demise. Clark and dozens of dedicated volunteers have worked very hard to keep history alive.
