CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Vola Alice Elsrod, age 90, of Centerville, died Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Reid Health.
Born August 22, 1926, in Connersville, Indiana, to Eisha and Dora Lee Fowler Gabbard, Vola lived most of her life in Centerville. She was an aide at the Richmond State Hospital. Vola was a member of First Baptist Church of Centerville. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Vola enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Myra Baldwin of Centerville, Indiana, Bruce Elsrod of Centerville, Indiana, Brian Elsrod of Richmond, Indiana, and Jennifer Crawford of Richmond, Indiana; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert Elsrod, who died on June 7, 2006; parents; five sisters, Olla Houghland, Vida Moore, Coletta Willett, Nida Bills, and Veron Newton; and half-brothers, Lester Maupin and Raymond Steele.
Visitation for Vola Alice Elsrod was from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service followed at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. James L. Girdley officiating.
