LEWISVILLE- Richard “Dick” Hoffman, 82, passed away at his home on Wednesday morning April 24, 2019 with his family by his side.
A son of the late Howard Fletcher and Thelma Naomi (Stubbs) Hoffman, Richard was born in New Castle, Indiana on July 8, 1936. A lifelong member of the Lewisville community, Dick graduated from Lewisville High School with the class of 1954 and was a member of the Lewisville Masonic Lodge.
Dick has been a farmer all his life and was in partnership with his father and brother at the Lewisville Elevator until its closing in 1989. He loved country music (especially Hank Williams), helping others and being a friend. For many years he enjoyed singing and playing guitar.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 44 years, the former May Ann Correll. They were married in New Castle on January 17, 1975. 3 daughters Melissa A. (Randy) Caylor, Cynthia A. (Alan) Brown, Susan M. (Matt) Thompson; 9 grandchildren, Jami (Dave) Contino, Ashley (Chris) Sparks, Abbie (companion, Dave Rinehart) Howell, Jake (Danielle) Caylor, Jena (companion Lee Shostle) Caylor, Betsy (Jeff) Veytia, Emily (companion Ben Bright) Neal, Brooke (Josh) Williams, Jenny (Kellan) Zitani; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, James (Rose) Hoffman and their children, Brian (Julia) and David Hoffman; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be forever loved and missed.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 2 p.m. on Saturday April 27, 2019 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel. Rev. Roby Wood will officiate. Burial will follow at the Lewisville Cemetery.
