Sheba Burns Trites, 98, of New Castle, Indiana, died on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Addison Place in New Castle.
She was born August 2, 1923, in St. Helens, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Benjamin H. and Laura (Stacy) Bowman.
On December 2, 1942, Sheba married David C. Burns, her husband of 46 years. After his death, she married Roderick Trites of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. In 1948, Sheba and David moved to New Castle, where they eventually became owners of Carson Chemicals, a veterinary pharmaceutical company. Sheba was a graduate of the Gospel Crusade School of Ministry in Bradenton, Florida, and was a licensed minister through Gospel Crusade and Foursquare Church. She talked to everyone she met about Jesus and helped many find Him as their personal Savior. Sheba was also passionate about Israel, visiting more than 30 times.
Those left to cherish Sheba’s memory include a son, David (Celia) Burns of New Castle; a step-son, Robert (Suzanne) Trites Moncton, NB; a daughter-in-law, Janice (Joe) Best of Bradenton, FL; grandchildren, Jeff (Lynne) Burns, Amy (Daniel) Smith, Bryan (Sabrina) Burns, Lisa (John) Mullen, Katrina (Kevin) Thomas; several great and great-great-grandchildren, and her sister, Hershel Sparks of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family members in Canada whom she dearly loved.
In addition to her parents, Sheba was preceded in death by her two husbands; a son, Bobby Burns; a grandson, Benjamin Burns; three brothers, G.P., Bill, and Junior Bowman and three sisters, Bernice Sears, Lucille Condon, and Eva Rae Best.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Sproles Family Funeral Homes with Pastor David Oaks officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery.
