Alfred “Wayne” Mullins, age 91, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away from this world early on Monday, February 14, 2022, at home surrounded by his family.

Born August 26, 1930, in Withers “Mullins Station”, Kentucky, to Otto and Vashti Pike Mullins, Wayne was one of 11 children. He graduated from Livingston High School in 1949. Wayne proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired as a conductor for the Penn Central Railroad in 1973. Wayne also worked for Coniff’s Power Equipment, delivered school buses for Wayne Works in Arkansas, and was self-employed. He was a lifelong member of The Eastern Indiana Beagle Club, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Marine Corps League, and VFW Kirk-Little Post 1108. Wayne enjoyed being outdoors, including walking, doing yard work, and running beagles in his earlier years. He was a kind, loving, and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, L. Yvonne Mason Mullins, to whom he was married December 24, 1964, and celebrated many years of love; daughters, Jeannie Mullins of Richmond and Tami (Doug) Blalock of Vanceburg, Kentucky; grandchildren, Tara (Jody) Staver of Portland, Indiana, Lucas Wayne (Katie) Shull of Fishers, Indiana, and Phillip Blalock of Shoals, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Dustin (Skianne) Younce, Hunter (Kianna) Younce, Kaitlyn (Zachary) Staver, and Burke, Bennett, and Briar Shull; great-great-grandchildren, Isabella and Lincoln; sister, Jan (Bob) Pangburn of Centerville, Ohio; brothers, Robert Mullins of Richmond and Freddy (Brenda) Mullins of Springboro, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Marcella Mullins of Frankfort, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Fonda Wilds, who passed away from cancer, which has afflicted much of Wayne’s family, on January 22, 2022; parents; sisters, Margie (Lyman) Gibson, Alameda (Ben) Love, Elizabeth (Stanley) Clark, Carol (Don) Turner, and Joyce Mullins; brothers, Bill (Marilyn) Mullins and Ronnie Mullins; sister-in-law, Sandy Mullins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a private family service for Alfred “Wayne” Mullins. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
