Paul was born on March 30, 1956, in Richmond, Virginia, to Albert G. and Helen Joyce Grimes Vandermar. He attended Ball State University and completed his degree at Ivy Tech Community College. Paul served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from GTE, where he worked as a line engineer. After retiring, Paul worked as a manager in the lodge department at Dick’s Sporting Goods. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, exploring, and adventure. Paul loved God, freedom, learning, eating, and laughter. He was a faithful son, brother, and friend. Paul was kind-hearted and loved serving others. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his siblings, Mary (Stephen) Sawada of Zionsville, Indiana, Carol (Chris) Maher of Ashville, North Carolina, and Cathy (Greg) Price of Zionsville; nieces and nephews, Hayley, Samuel, Matthew, Gregory, Lena, David, and Stephen; great-nephew, Elliott; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Paul A. Vandermar will be from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
