Donna Ballenger, age 86, a New Castle resident, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 3, 3021. She was born July 30, 1935, a daughter of Vaughn and Francis Hungerford.
Donna’s most “special” job as a young lady was working at Criders Drive-In where she met her husband of 62 years, who also worked at the Drive-In. She served as a lunch lady for Weir Grade School, and had worked at Redelman’s Hardware Store, and Bud Ayers Market. Donna enjoyed and was very active with her sewing, crafts and flowers – she especially loved lilacs. Most of all, Donna enjoyed spending time with her family, going for car rides, and especially talking to her best friend of over 60 years, Elvie (husband, Carmon Hoots) of New Castle.
Donna was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church and also a member of Son Life Ministries.
Left to cherish her loving memory included her husband of 62 years, Byron Ballenger of New Castle; a son, Bill (wife, Susan) Ballenger of New Castle; grandsons, Chris (wife, Nikki) Ballenger of Daleville, Brian (wife, Crystal) Ballenger of New Castle; a granddaughter, Ashley Ballenger also of New Castle; great-grandchildren, Christina Poole of New Castle, Olivia Ballenger of Daleville, McKenzie Ballenger, Rin Berger, Emma Ballenger, and Annabella Ballenger, all of New Castle; one sister, Vonda (husband, Virgil Duane) Ballenger of New Castle; one brother, John (wife, Sue) Hungerford of New Castle;
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Margaret Mastin of New Castle, Dixie Johnson of Clay City, and Linda Golf of New Castle; three brothers, Errol Hungerford of Michigan City, Jerry Hungerford of Colorado, and Carl “Butch” Hungerford of New Castle.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Macer-Hall-Marcum Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad St., New Castle with Reverend Danny Douglas officiating.
