Sharon Ann Oxley, age 66, a New Castle resident, passed away at her home, Tuesday, November 23, 2021. She was born November 22, 1955 in New Castle, Indiana.
Sharon was a 1975 graduate of Hagerstown High School and a 1978 graduate of IU School of Nursing in Bloomington, Indiana where she received BSN degree. She married Daniel Ray Oxley in 1978 and entered the healthcare profession working as a visiting nurse. Sharon then worked as a specialized nurse at Henry County Memorial Hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). She further served as Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) at Heritage House Nursing Home in New Castle before moving to the position as Director of Nursing (DON)at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Shelbyville. Sharon served as a Girl Scout and 4-H Leader, she volunteered as a nurse for 20+ years at the Henry County Sheriffs Camp. She also served on the Henry County Search & Rescue Team for many years. Sharon enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and Civil War reenactment. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family at Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Ray Oxley, New Castle; two daughters, Amanda (husband, Vaughn) Reid and Mary Kathleen “Katie” (husband, Stuart) Hamby, both of New Castle, Indiana; two sisters, Karen Sue Nead of Cambridge City, Indiana and Kim (husband, Mike) Luff of Richmond, Indiana; two grandchildren, Destiney and Alexis “Lexi” Johnson, both of New Castle; two nieces, Jennifer Nead of Chicago, Jessica (husband, Colton) Webster of Greenfield and Elizabeth Oxley of Ohio; one nephew, Thomas Oxley, IV of Virginia; brother-in-law, Tom Oxley, III (wife, Mary Lou) of Dayton, Ohio; several cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Louise (Faucett) Harrold; mother and father-in-law, Frank and Barbara Oxley.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Macer-Hall-Marcum Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad St., New Castle with Pastor Bill Palmer officiating.
