BENTONVILLE – Carol Alberta Spurgin, 90, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at Henry Community Health in New Castle, Indiana.
A daughter of the late Lloyd and Ethel (Christian) Eichacker, Alberta was born in Batesville, Indiana on April 29, 1928.
She was a graduate of Bentonville High School. A homemaker, she lived most of her life and raised her children on the family farm northwest of Bentonville.
She moved to Richmond in 2006 and has lived in New Castle for the past year.
Alberta served as treasurer for the Bentonville Cemetery Association and was a former member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Connersville before transferring her membership to Fellowship Baptist Church in Richmond.
Survivors include her 3 children, Vicki Ross, Brian (Sandy) Spurgin and Kevin (Mary) Spurgin; 4 grandchildren, Jason Spurgin, Amber Terhaar, Shanon Jackson and Curtis Collins; 9 great grandchildren; 2 siblings, Marcia Conley and Dale Eichacker; several nieces and nephews.
Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Spurgin on October 14, 2012. They were married in Connersville on June 28, 1947; their 3½ year old daughter, Karen Sue Spurgin on October 16, 1952; grandson, Mark Spurgin; brother, Don Eichacker.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Pastor David McQueen will officiate. Burial will follow at the Bentonville Cemetery.
