COVID-19 vaccinations at Reid Health’s Urgent Care facilities in Richmond and Connersville and Reid Ready Care at the Richmond Meijer store have been paused to reduce the amount of foot traffic at the sites.
All three locations recently have seen an increase in those needing urgent care services, according to a news release.
“The numbers of patients we’re now seeing at those facilities have led to unusually long wait times,” said Misti Foust-Cofield, Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer for Reid Health, in the release. “This change will help to alleviate some of that traffic.
“For those wanting to be vaccinated, there are still several options available, including our convenient clinic in the Kuhlman Center at the Wayne County Fairgrounds.”
Reid’s Kuhlman Center clinic at 861 Salisbury Road N. in Richmond is open 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday and Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Friday. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.
Vaccinations in Indiana can be scheduled using the state website, ourshot.in.gov, which lists a number of locations from which to choose, including the Kuhlman Center, county health departments, and area pharmacies.
*In Wayne County, vaccines are now available at CVS Pharmacy in Cambridge City as well as CVS stores in Richmond (Chester Boulevard, East Main Street and South West 18th Street), Kroger, Meijer, Midtown MediCenter, Walgreens and Walmart pharmacies in Richmond as well as Wayne County Health Department, 100 S. Fifth St., Richmond.
*In Fayette County, vaccinations are available through the health department, CVS, Kroger and Walmart, all in Connersville.
*In Henry County, vaccinations can be found through the county’s health department, CVS, Kroger, Walgreens and Walmart.
*In Randolph County, they are offered through the health department and CVS in Winchester as well as Kaup Pharmacy in Union City.
Indiana Department of Health has designated 211 as a call line for assistance for making appointments.
Everyone 12 and older is eligible to get the vaccine, but only the Pfizer version has been approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration for those younger than 18. Reid uses the Pfizer product. Inquire at other sites about what brand(s) of shots are available.
Parents or legal guardians of minor children who will be vaccinated need to be present at the child’s appointment.
Those who are moderately to severely immunocompromised are now eligible for a third dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Those appointments also can be scheduled at the Kuhlman Center.
On Thursday morning, Reid’s COVID-19 hotline will return to serve as the primary contact for all COVID-related information, including testing, vaccinations, and clinical advice. The hotline will be available 8 a.m.-8 p.m. seven days a week by calling (765) 965-4200.
