Larrie Dean Retz, 81, Spiceland, passed away Sunday June 13, 2021 at Stonebrook Nursing Home in New Castle, Indiana. A son of the late Charles Dean and Roberta S. (Stover) Retz, Larrie was born in New Castle, Indiana on October 16, 1939. Larrie was a 1957 graduate of New Lisbon High School where he played basketball. He continued his education at Purdue University and graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired from Naval Avionics (now Raytheon) in Indianapolis. Larrie was also a lifelong farmer and has lived at his current home for 55 years. He enjoyed designing and planned then constructed a room addition to his home with many unique features that he was very proud of. In his leisure, Larrie enjoyed fishing, trips to Canada, deer hunting, western movies, music and building C.B. radios. He liked old cars and automobiles and restored a 1971 chevy truck. Larrie was a longtime member of Center Christian Church where he was a Deacon, Elder and choir member.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, the former Diane Elise Pitman. They were married at Cambridge City Christian Church on December 1, 1962; 2 children, Janet Elise Jones of Indianapolis and Eric Dean Retz of Cambridge City; sister in-law, Jackie Retz; nieces and nephews. Larrie was preceded in death by his brother, Gary D. Retz on March 19, 2018 and son in-law, Stanley C. Jones on March 13, 2017.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday June 19, 2021 at Center Christian Church- 9112 N. 50 W./ Knightstown, IN 46148. Pastors Darryl Denney and Bill Worell will officiate, Burial will follow at Center Township Cemetery.
