Gloria Lynn Cecil Guffey, age 64, resident of New Castle, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021. She was born May 9, 1956 in Athens, Tennessee and was the daughter of Henry Cecil and Thelma Wiggins.
Gloria graduated with honors from Ivy Tech with an Associates of Applied Science Degree as a Medical Assistant. She worked years in patient care at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle before retiring in 2006 due to her health. She enjoyed being a homemaker and decorating her house. She especially enjoyed outings, cooking, genealogy, fishing, and watching makeup videos.
She is survived by a son, Larry Guffey (Charlotte Tenney) of New Castle; a daughter, Brandy (husband, Dwight) Martin of New Castle; grandchildren, Austin (wife, Kassidy) Martin, Aaliyah, Kaylynne, Alyssa, and Landon Martin, Caylie Guffey; stepsons, Tim Guffey and Ernie (wife, Marcie) Guffey; stepdaughter, Vickie (husband, Ruble) Upchurch; step-grandchildren, Ashley (husband, Jordan) Swindell, Amanda Howard, Destinee (husband, Cody) Jackson, Koger, Warinner, William, Waverly, and Jones Guffey; five great-grandchildren; seven brothers, David (wife, Carol) Cecil, Roger and Rick Cecil, Dale (wife, Mariah) Wells, Marty Wells, Gary McIver, Hank “Butch” (wife, Misty) Cecil; five sisters, Margie Gregario (Doug Abott), Treva Savage, Brenda (husband, Tommy) Hamel, Tammy Wells (Margaret Jamieson), Betty “E.B.” (husband, Roger) Prince; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry Guffey, Sr., whom she married April 15, 1980 and passed away February 2, 2002; a stepson, Gary Guffey; a brother, Leon Wells.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 15, 2021 at Macer-Hall-Marcum & Moffitt Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad Street, New Castle with Pastor Michael Winner and Reverend Phillip “Tommy” Hamel officiating.
