Bonnie Sue Kinsey, age 80, of Richmond, Indiana, died Monday, March 8, 2021, at Reid Health.
Born March 1, 1941, in Richmond, Indiana, to William Richard and M. Teresa Smith Jones, Bonnie was a life-long resident of this community. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1959, before receiving her RN degree from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. Bonnie continued her education, earning her bachelor’s degree in 1985 from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois, and her master’s degree in adult education from Ball State University in 1991. She retired from the Richmond State Hospital in 2008, after 35 years of service. Bonnie was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a former president of Catholic Women United. She previously served on the board of the Wayne County, Indiana Special Olympics. Bonnie loved to cook and most of her free time was spent with her family or volunteering to help others.
Survivors include her sons, William (Kari) Kinsey and John Kinsey, both of Richmond and Michael (Alicia) Kinsey of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Margaret, Ian, and Sean Kinsey; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James Lee Kinsey, who died July 10, 2020, and parents.
Visitation for Bonnie Sue Kinsey will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 815 West Main Street, Richmond, with Fr. Sengole T. Gnanaraj officiating. Please plan to wear your own mask in the funeral home and church. Entombment will be in the Earlham Memorial Mausoleum.
