Paul L. Rigsby, age 95, of Richmond, Indiana, died Thursday, February 18, 2021, at Majestic Care of Connersville.
Born October 4, 1925, in Marion, Virginia, to Howard H. and Lula J. Kelly Rigsby, Paul moved to Wayne County, Indiana, in 1941. He proudly served as an electrician’s mate in the U.S. Navy Amphibious Forces in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. His general quarters mate was a spider monkey. Paul worked as an industrial electrician at Wayne Works, Crosley, and Perfect Circle before moving to Marion, Indiana, in 1955, where he worked at RCA and Fisher Body Corporation. Paul returned to Wayne County in 1972 and worked at Chrysler in New Castle, Indiana, for 17 years, before retiring in 1988. He attended Sugar Grove Community Church in Greens Fork, Indiana. Paul was a member of the National USS LSM/LSMR Association, CPC Sympathy Club in Marion, and UAW Local 375. He was also commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Dorothy Jeanne Clark Rigsby; children, Mary (Jim) Crandall of Wabash, Indiana, and Ray Rigsby of Hagerstown, Indiana; grandsons, Jason and David Crandall; five great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Atwell of Richmond; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother, Lula Adams; brother, J.B. Rigsby; and sisters, Anna Lucille Shook and Regenia Smith.
Visitation for Paul L. Rigsby will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Adam Rinehart officiating. Please plan to wear your own mask in the funeral home. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
